AI and Autonomous Weapon Systems

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used for military purposes, enabling the rapid fusion and evaluation of data across various domains, from logistics to command structures. Alongside military advantages, this trend also poses legal, ethical, and political challenges. What new employment options and threat perceptions arise from autonomous weapons systems? How do they impact the international balance of power? Is it necessary and feasible to constrain the military use of artificial intelligence? How does the public perceive this military technology? What are the prospects for regulation? We address these questions using methods such as quantitative surveys or qualitative norms research.
