The use of missiles in conflicts is steadily increasing. Discussions about defensive measures, such as missile defense, are on the rise. A precise understanding of the technologies is crucial for political decision-making on these matters. What are the targeting capabilities, ranges, and reliability rates of modern missiles? What detection capabilities exist? Can conventional and nuclear-tipped missiles be distinguished from each other, and if so, how? What impacts do new offensive as well as defensive systems have on escalation management? We analyze these questions through simulations of offensive and defensive missile trajectories.
