Alexander Graef joined the research and transfer project Arms Control and Emerging Technologies in March 2019. He studied Cultural Studies and International Relations at the European University Viadrina, the Free University of Berlin and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). He holds a PhD from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). In 2017-2018 Alexander Graef was a Swiss National Science Foundation Doc. mobility fellow at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow. Alexander Graef is a member of the Younger Generation Leaders Network on Euro-Atlantic Security (YGLN).
Research profile and current projectsAlexander Graef works at the intersection between critical security studies, arms control and international political sociology. His research focuses on the role of knowledge and social networks in foreign and security policy as well as conceptual questions of arms control in Europe and the transformation of political order. He is interested in military aspects of Russian foreign and security policy and the relations between NATO and Russia.
