Tobias Risse works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and has been a visiting research fellow in the research and transfer project “Arms Control and Emerging Technologies” since September 2024. He received his doctorate in political science from the University of Aarhus (Denmark) in 2022. As a doctoral student, he also spent three months as a visiting researcher at the University of Essex (UK). Prior to his doctorate, he studied at the University of Konstanz and the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), among others.
Research profile and current projectsIn his research, Tobias Risse examines states’ positions on arms control and their determinants. Moreover, he analyzes individual attitudes towards political violence and arms policy among the population and political elites. His research is mainly based on quantitative methods such as survey experiments and automated text analysis.
