Lukas Mengelkamp joined the research and transfer project Arms Control and New Technologies in November 2022. He studied history and political science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and at the Charles University in Prague. He is currently completing his doctoral thesis at Philipps University Marburg on the intellectual history of the critique of nuclear deterrence during the Cold War.

Research profile and current projects

Lukas Mengelkamp researches the history of nuclear deterrence, the role of science in the Cold War and the scholarly critique of deterrence theories and strategies. At IFSH, he is particularly working on NATO’s new military strategy.
